BIOGRAPHY

ALFREDO ABBATI

 

Italo-Brazilian vocal coach Alfredo Abbati started studying piano with Daniel de Matos in Sao Paulo. He received his master degree at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris with highest honours under the guidance of Erika Guiomar.

 

During the 2009-2010 season he was a vocal coach at the Centre de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo in Valencia (Spain) and in 2014-2015 he was a vocal coach at the Atelier Lyrique at Opéra National de Paris.

 

In his experience as vocal coach, he has worked on many productions, such as Salomé, Tosca, Fidelio (conductor: Zubin Mehta), La Scala di seta, L’Italiana in Algeri (conductor: Alberto Zedda) and Ariane auf Naxos (conductor: Andrew Davis) at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia, Spain; Adriana Lecouvreur (conductor: Marco Armiliato) and Les Pêcheurs de Perles at the Salzburger Festspiele, Autria; Otello and Lear at Opéra National de Paris, France; Die Walküre and Götterdämmerung at Teatro Municipal de São Paulo, Brazil; Lulu, Parsifal and Carmen at Teatro Amazonas de Manaus, Brazil; Falstaff at Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Italy (conductor: José Miguel Pérez-Sierra); La Fille du Régiment and Andrea Chénier at Grand Teatre de Liceu in Barcelona; Tristan und Isolde, Les dialogues des Carmelites, Macbeth Underworld (world première of Pascal Dusapin), Powder her face (Thomas Adès), Mitridate Re di Ponto (conductor: Christophe Rousset) at Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels...

 

In these productions, he has worked with renowned singers and conductors including Plácido Domingo, Jonas Kaufmann, Anna Netrebko, Nicola Alaimo, Anita Rachvelishvili, Anna-Tomowa Sintow, Roberto Alagna, Camila Nylund, Bryn Terfel, Siegfried Jerusalem, Albert Dohmen, Hanna Schwarz, Stéphanie d’Oustrac, Ewa Podles, Javier Camarena, Olga Peretyatko, Lorin Maazel, Gianandrea Nozeda, Alain Altinoglu, Fabio Luisi, Georges Prêtre...

In 2014, he participated in the world premiere of Shell Shock by the Belgian composer Nicholas Lens, staged by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and also Au monde by Philippe Boesmans at La Monnaie/De Munt in Brussels with Patricia Petibon and Stéphane Degout.

 

As recitalist, he has played with Sondra Radvanovsky, Carlos Álvarez, Simon Orfila and Alejandro Roy in A Coruña; Paulo Szot in Rome; Patricia Petibon in La Vézère, France; Marianne Cornetti in Ferrol, Spain; Allison Cook at Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels; Gemma Ni Bhriain in Dublin...
